Dating a partner (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by goodbadkarma1
I would like to ask out a partner barista who has newly joined my store. Is that allowed? Also, since I also fairly new, would that be ok? I fear that it might mess up life at work. But work is so much fun and nice when she is around. Views? Appreciate help.

I think that it could end very poorly. My manager told me on my first day that if I were to have a relationship with a partner, one of us would have to move stores. Also, it could make her uncomfortable if you asked and she does not see you that way. Especially because you’re new, you should wait at least a month before reconsidering.

But again, what if I wait and things get late. If someone else asks her out I mean . 😕

nope! not worth making life at work uncomfortable for everyone at work, especially her.

Don’t mean to make life at work and life for her - uncomfortable. Agree on that.

Don’t do it. It’s s trap. I dated a girl from a different store and I had to stop picking up shifts there. Also two partners from my store dated and when they had a falling out it was just weird for everyone when we all worked together. Holler at your own risk.

Interesting responses here.

I dated a fellow partner and worked with her for a long time. I moved up to be a Shift Supervisor, at which point I had to switch stores. Check with your SM what the policy is to be sure.

On the flip side, we’ve been dating two years and still going strong!

My DM made a partner transfer even though he and his girlfriend rarely worked together. So you’ll need to decide if you’re willing to transfer or if you want to wait and see how it progresses but you may end up friend zoned.

Well, no guy would like being friend zoned. But if that has to happen , it will happen . But looking at the positive side of things, If things go well between us, I’ll ask a transfer. But better than being kicked out of a job and being jobless right.? I hope dating or asking out co-workers isn’t against company policy. What say people.
