Question about tip jar locations. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by addison21
So like most stores, we have a tip jar on Front and in DT, but one of our partners is putting one on the hand off pane as well. Is this something that is allowed? I tried searching partner hub, but couldn’t find anything.

Honestly I don’t know this one. I would assume it’s okay but it’s up to your manager. The issues that could come from This is more potential for theft and it could look bad from a customers point of view, like we’re asking for money.

We have 4 tip jars, one at both main regs and one dt and another on the mobile hand off

We have two at the registers and one on handoff. It’s been this way for the three years I’ve been there so I’d say yes it’s allowed

I was thinking this as well. It feels like we’re begging for tips. Thanks

Pretty sure tip jars do not have a standard, but the chances of a customer pulling their wallet back out at the handoff plane after already having put it away are very low, and yes it very much is a too desperate for tips look

I think it's up to the manager, but I can see why they do it. We occasionally have people pick up their mobile orders and just leave cash sitting on the counter (who knows how often this happens because I feel like sometimes people just swipe it because we don't see that side of the counter unless cleaning).
