Does anyone else consistently have the problem with closing shifts having one or even two too few people scheduled? I'm constantly working with 3 (including myself) by 3pm, and sometimes it's down to 2 of us before 8pm, and my store closes at 11pm. Last week during BOGO espressos happy hour we had a brand new girl plus two. I'm just curious to see if this is the norm elsewhere, too.

I don't know if anyone's taught you how hours are assigned, but it's basically all automated-- Starbucks looks at past data on how much is sold, and calculates how many staff should be needed.
Things to make sure you're doing to get more hours allocated:
Hitting "warmed" on pastries--- they allocate more time for this than just gathering cold pastries.
Hitting "grind" on beans-- they allocate time for grinding, not for just ringing beans up.
Remakes-- always ring them up and do "right now discount", otherwise starbucks won't recognize the labor time needed.

I didn't realize it tracked all that, I thought it was based off of sales alone. Thanks for the tip.

If you have people come through the drive thru to pick up their mobile order there is a button on the register! It helps.
Also ringing up water will help.

(I just found this out today!)

Happens here too. I'm looking for another job because it bothers me so much. Happens constantly.
