Are you required to switch the bar barista? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Wow at my store you’re in the same position all day and usually the same position everyday for weeks or months which sucks. It’s not as bad now tho I get moved around a lot now which I like but some of my coworkers are still getting stuck in the same positions. But like usually the planted positions stay in the same spot all day except for their 10s and lunches. So dto is there for their whole shift which is exhausting.

Just wondering if it’s against the rules to leave a person on bar for all their shift. Or what the rules are on that. Thx

Idk that it’s “required” to switch baristas around, but it’s certainly nice to do so, that way no one is getting overwhelmed with one task for 6-8 hours

It’s not against the rules but it’s not really standard. Shifts should be rotating baristas through a shift to make sure no one gets repetitive work related injuries.

Also just ask to get off the position. If they refuse to put you anywhere else just take it to the SM. If that doesn’t work go to the DM. But it should never get that far.

Not sure if it’s company wide, but it’s suggested at my store to switch baristas from their positions every two hours so that they won’t get overwhelmed having to do one job all their shift. Baristas Can also ask if they can switch out of their positions if they want to (this happens a lot with DTO)

I've heard two different answers to that. I was told every half hour and also told every 2hrs. So I have no clue which is correct except that positions are supposed to be switched at some point

2 hours is the official period I believe
