There's 2 possibilities.

1. The online hiring page keeps candidates organized by what step they're on in the hiring process. The steps:
Interview,
Extend offer,
Background check,
On-boarding/First Day.

If the next SM used the previous SM's login (very likely as her location isn't built) and that previous SM was lazy and didn't reset you, it's likely the new SM was blindly clicking and intended to mark you to start the Interview step and wasn't aware she actually proceeded further.

2. The next SM is using an old, outdated process of purposefully skipping steps in order to have your background check clear first. We are NOT supposed to do this as it costs $30 - that's why they reorganized the steps.

At the end of the interview she asked me if I had received the email with the background check so I know she meant to send it. I have yet to get a call back though and I desperately need this job. Not sure what to do besides call again tomorrow morning i guess?
