Rant..Customer trying to cheat free refill policy (self.starbucksbaristas)

I had a customer who I’ve never seen before, come in asking if he can get his free refill if he got it at the Starbucks down the street. I said no, because it is a different location and he will have to purchase a coffee here but can come back for a refill if he stays in the store. He responds by telling me I’m the same company. (Why ask if you’re just going to argue with me? Lol). Anyways, I say yes that’s correct but we are a different store. He didn’t get that 🙄 so I say I mean location. He finally gives me his gold card to pay. It shows that there is no money on it. He says he’ll just pay another time. (Wtf dude). I said nooo.. we don’t do that. So finallyyyy he pays me in cash, says I just lost a customer, he’s never coming back and he should ask for a manager (k, than ask? Lol). I just say, no worries. Thanks! Have a great day! In the sweetest tone 😏😏. Then I do a bus and see him sitting at a table reading a paper..

Gahhhhh why do these grown adults gotta be like this 🙄🙄. Follow the rules like (almost) everyone else.

It’s an overly generous policy as it is. All refills should just be 20 cents. With a receipt. No one cares about twenty cents and we’d probably make about the same amount of money.
