So I applied at my local Starbucks in Tampa Bay Area and I had to keep calling the store manager (he straight up admitted he was bad at communication) was finally able to catch him and setup and interview. Had an hour almost 2 long interview and got hired on the spot!! But apparently the barista position at the store had expired so anytime he tried to find my application he couldn’t, luckily he figured it out and I already submitted the stuff for my background check!
So what my post is really about: What are some tips and tricks from the barista’s of Reddit that will help a newbie out! (Mind you this is my first food service job but not my first customer service job)
TLDR; I got hired on the spot at an interview and I’m looking for tips and tricks from the barista’s of Reddit. I have plenty of customer service exp but no food service exp.

Easily the most difficult thing to remember will be how to build drinks. Get some flash cards, and study them each night. Also, make sure you make the drinks right for the customer; no matter how long it takes.

There is always a method to the madness! Find the “why” to what you’re doing and it will become easier to remember and not only do it, but live it! Focus on quality and making sure you’re doing the steps as they show you (cadence, and sequencing — which are terms you’ll learn later) and the speed will come with time! Welcome, fellow partner!
