Opinions on the Triple Mocha and Ultra Caramel fraps? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by coolkaatt
So as a barista, I couldn’t help but notice when these two big guys came out a while ago, a lot of customers didn’t realize what they consisted of, and just thought they were essentially getting “more” of their favorite Frappuccinos. They didn’t know the whip was cold brew infused, or that it came at the top and the bottom.

I’ve had several people order a triple mocha frap WITHOUT whipped cream, or asking to switch the cold brew whip for regular whip because they don’t want the extra caffeine.
When they ask for no whip, considering the drinks are just regular fraps essentially, with cold brew whip at the bottom and top (dark sauces), I’ve always wondered if I should tell them to just get a no whip mocha or caramel frap? Is there a price difference? I work in a high volume store and always forget to check.

I understand how the ultra caramel is different, because it’s made with the dark caramel sauce. But I haven’t seen the dark mocha sauce in our store in months, so we’ve literally just been making the triple mocha as a regular mocha frap with cold brew whip. I just feel terrible charging them the full triple mocha price for a simple no whip frap!

If they don’t want whip for TMF I ring up a regular but the UCF isn’t the same sitch bc it’s dark caramel instead of regular.
Their popularity has definitely tapered out since they started. We trashed an entire canister of CBWC yesterday RIP.

You've gotten the feedback you wanted, but pro tip, the toasted white mocha frap is wayyy better with cbw

I do always suggest getting the regular because the price difference is 50¢ for my store (I know prices vary) and why pay anything for something you’re not getting.

As for the extra caffeine, is mention to them that it’s really not much caffeine at all. I mean we use less cold brew in a CBW than we do in a venti CB for an entire canister of whip, so they’re not really adding that much caffeine to their drink. It’s more the flavor than anything.

And usage for us went down when the holiday bevs came out. We went from 5 CBW a day to 1, MAYBE 2 (on a super busy day) and it’s not that our frap sales went down. Just more holiday bev fraps plus not seeing the UCF and TMF on the menu anymore (people have thought they were seasonal as well)
