Pay attention, ask questions, be prepared to feel like a major newb, try not to be too sensitive to criticism, don’t have an excuse for everything, if you mess up just say alright and move on, study at home and honestly just fake it til you make and SMILE. Smiles go a long way at the ‘bux.

I can’t stress enough that you ask questions. If you ever aren’t sure about something JUST ASK. Even if you end up asking the same question multiple times. You’ll be glad you asked because it’s better to ask than to deal with consequences of messing up. And don’t stress over bar. If you’re slower, it’s not a big deal. Speed will come with time and with that comes respect.

Don’t be afraid of bar!!!

Pretty sure I asked the same question almost every time I made iced coffee and cold brew to make sure I wasn’t mixing them up! Got to the point that I told my coworker he could ignore me and I just needed to say it out loud and then I remembered!

Read recipes cards during breaks! Talk to your supervisors!

I started about 3 weeks ago, and my personal advice: don't be afraid to ask questions! IMHO my trainer was not thorough, so a lot of things I'm still learning as I go. Also don't freak out- it's just coffee. I've forgotten to make people's coffees/teas during multi-tasks, but I just apologize and make it right then. I've spilled a whole bucket of Pike beans on the counter and floor. The POS system is still a bit of a curve for me, people rattle off a drink and I have to ask them to repeat things, but I'm getting better at it. I've got beginner experience on bar, the drink recipes seem easy once you get the routine, pumps, and shots down.
The drive thru is intimidating in the mornings during peak because we have a 42 sec time goal and they're serious about it.
Also!! Quizlet has some awesome flash cards for baristas too.
Hope this helps :)

Drink ratios don’t have to be completely perfect when making them. You always want to stick to the recipes but a drop extra of milk or coffee is not something to fret over.

You can use your headset to ask questions. It’s a lot less awkward then wondering around looking for someone.
