They do not hire felons. If your background comes back and is denied, appeal the decision and write a letter explaining how you’ve changed and how you can demonstrate that change I.e. theft classes you‘be taken, completing your sentence, community service, personal development, and maybe a character witness to write a letter on your behalf. I know at least one partner who has done this and it worked. Everyone makes mistakes and Starbucks loves a good underdog story.
The on the spot offer is conditional upon receiving your background.
EDIT: I’m not sure how franchise stores work. If this is a corporate store, follow my instructions. For now, just send in your background and sit tight. Don’t stress too much.

I am on deferred adjudication for theft and was hired not long ago. Apply and don’t lie on the application. When they ask if you are convicted of a felony, obviously say no, because it’s a misdemeanor. Welcome to the team. Don’t steal now, it’s bad. Mmmmkay?
