No, SM’s can not force you to come in under any circumstance, especially if you have a doctors note. You also don’t have to switch shifts, never heard of that before. Refer to the partner handbook if you ever have other questions too.

Yea that's not right at all. You need to point out that you are contagious, hand your SM a doctors note and tell them you won't be there to open, nicely.
