Transfer without prior notice (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ricardorol
I been a partner for 3 years and I’m getting transferred with one weeks notice. I haven’t asked or wanted to promote. Is there a way to stay at my store ?

Happened to two people I worked with. One was actually swapped with someone from a different store. He went there and she was moved to us, neither wanted the switch. It sucks but unless you can prove, as others said that you would experience travel issues or that the new work environment would be toxic for you there's nothing that can be done. It's at the whim of the managers

The fucking who what now, I know there is a contract and all but you should still have been asked and given authorization to have this happen.

I'm actually blown away that there's no consideration for you in this!

Yep it’s not the first I hear about this happening in my district. Didn’t think it would happen to me. I just wished I would have known couple of weeks prior

Is there any way you can get more information, that sounds like a good start.

I know it's obviously too late to stop this, but to ensure that yo uhave a handle on it for the future is a good idea. Keep in touch with your manager as well, expressing your desire to stay at that store you have now. If you have a good relationship it's possible they can transfer you back at a later date.

Unless you can show this new store would cause significant travel issues then it's unlikely. The contract you have with Starbucks is that you're willing to work at any store (within reason i.e it doesn't cause significant travel issues) either temporarily or permanently.

Nevertheless, it likely won't hurt to ask.

it’s all within the city and thanks for the advice

I was forced into a transfer last year to a sister location, the drive thru was so under staffed that my sm and I were worried that it wouldn't be until the new store. Keep hope and talk with your sm for possible openings. Specially for school.
