I’m a green bean and have been scheduled for opening shifts quite a bit. I always make sure that I’m on time but one of my shift managers is always late and it’s super frustrating. If I had a key it’d be one thing but having to wait outside for my manger sucks. Also, if we’re late we get in trouble. So wtf?

Don’t you mean you just need to venti....? 🤓

Make sure you write down the time your shift started in the book so you get paid for it!!! If you’re there early/on time, you can be getting paid from the time your shift started until your shift ended (if it’s a 3:30 shift and you got there at 3:20, only write down 3:30 since that’s the time your shift started—even if your manager arrived at 3:40!) it’ll make waiting in your car a lot more worth it knowing you’re getting paid to sit, relax, listen to music, or be on your phone :)

I wish I was in a car 😂 I’m in a city and take public transit so I’m just waiting outside. It’s a good time

Hmm...are the weather conditions bad there? Because if they are, maybe talk to your manager (or a shift you trust) and see if they can do anything. If not, read a good book or pick up a nice hobby like knitting and go crazy :)

I just now am thinking about all the opens I was late because of a late shift or SM/ASM. Didn’t even think to write it in the book to account for MY time. TY!

Of course! When I figured it out (as an almost daily opener with constantly late shifts) I was quick to jump on it!

You fucking rock

I feel ya. Every shift except one is always late. Today had a partner late because "it was cold" (We're in Florida lol) Other partners are always late too. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me

How can you make every moment right if you’re late for the moment? 😂😂
ejbailey1995 [OP]5 points4y ago
It’s frustrating on time. I come from a theatre background so punctuallity is like burnt in to me. I don’t understand how people can casually be late. Your partners are relying on you

That’s extremely frustrating. I’m the only SSV who is always early even my manager is pretty consistently a couple minutes late. And when I open I usually have to wait for the baristas to get there. Definitely bring it up to your SM.

I’m new so I don’t wanna cause any trouble but I may have to. No one likes this shift anyways

Tell your SM! Our system doesn't always alert us to late punches unless they're more than 8 minutes over, and if everything looks good, I don't think to triple check manually.
