I had a lady come in a couple weeks ago who was rude af to me while we were in the middle of a rush. She was holding up the line and was being impossible. She pointed to the lemon pound cake and said she’d like one of those.
So, I grabbed a fresh one from out of the wrapper and she looked PISSED. She shouts over the food case to me “NOT THAT ONE!” I look at her and kindly say, “Oh I’m sorry which one did you want?” And she points dramatically to the LPC like I’m stupid. I pulled the LPC out of the pastry bag and show her and explain that it’s the same pastry, but this one is fresher since it hasn’t been in the case all day.
She did NOT have it. I’m not sure if she was trying not to be proven wrong or if she’s just dense because she starts irately yelling that I gave her an “end piece”. (I know sometimes they can seem like a different shape, but this was EXACTLY the same as the ones in the case.)
I set it aside and grabbed the LPC on top and started to put it in a new bag. She freaked out again and I kid you fucking not said:
“ARE YOU AN IDIOT THAT PIECE ISN’T SQUARE ENOUGH!”
It was the exact same size as all the other pieces! My jaw probably hit the floor and I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself and refused to say anything in fear she’d notice me laughing. I grabbed the one in the middle and handed it to another co-worker to run to her. And I stacked the fresh LPC perfectly on top in the case.
SQUARE ENOUGH?! Wtf?
