How do you deal with work burn out? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by starlord_1997
I’ve been with the bux for a year and a half and I’m starting to experience burnout. There’s a lot of tense feelings at my store, every single partner and shift feels under appreciated and under paid, corporate isn’t happy with the stores performance, and our SM just blames the shifts for everything. I’m considering a transfer but I’m not sure if I just want to quit. How do you guys deal with it when everything at your store seems terrible?

Rough stores are rough, but you're going to have a difficult time transferring "Just because" - make it because it's closer to home and you might have a chance.

Really, shitty stores will wear you down... heck, decent stores will do that because the job is a grind. Your best bet (if a transfer doesn't look imminent) is to ride it out, remind yourself that it's for a paycheck, and keep your head down. Goodluck, partner.

They asked me if I’d like to transfer to a store near mine- apparently they’re having trouble adjusting to a new SM. So I don’t have to give reasoning for wanting to at all. Pretty lucky actually.

Thank you. It gets harder every day.

IT does, but this job doesn't define you or control your (entire) life. And if you can transfer, hey, go for it! Sometimes you just need new bullshit and a clean slate :)

Get a better job. I left Starbucks after 3 years and I have never been happier. I’m 37 and have had a lot of jobs and this was by far the most stressful, including other fast food jobs. The whole structure of the company has changed and the expectations are unrealistic. Get out while you can.
