so I’ve been with Starbucks for over a year, I recently became a certified barista trainer & my store manager told me to get ready & do a coffee tasting with my district manager & another store manager!!! I’m so nervous, idk what to do 😩

What coffees do you like? I think it’s always easiest to start with what you know and like, then work from there with a pairing, test run it at home or with friends. Get some practice with describing the coffee- type of roast, body, flavor, acidity, where it’s from, what kind of process, brew method, etc. Get comfortable locating the flavors and notes and look up a fun fact or “did you know” tidbit about your coffee choice and add that to the conversation. Make sure the paired food goes really well and elevates the whole experience. If you’re feeling really bold and confident, make a blend of coffees (think 50%guatemala 50%verona) and a homemade treat to delight! Even if it’s basic it can be fantastic. I’ve made a pour over of casi cielo with lemon pound cake, Ethiopia with those Ophelia dark chocolate hearts, and I’ve also done a French press of Guatemala with homemade roasted candied maple pecans for a panel- knocked it out of the park 😊 I’m sure you will too! The point is you need to have fun with it, and be comfortable talking about the coffee- you’ll do great!
