When you get hired at Starbucks, they give you a little partner ID that you use to clock in and out with, use as a code for your discounts and markouts, and it also happens to be the number of employees Starbucks has at the time of employing you.
So the founders start at 1 and everyone who got hired after that got the next number. My GM is a 105XXXX, and I'm a 259XXXX. Basically the lower your number, the longer you've been working there. I started right before Christmas 2018 and I am already seeing 27's.

BTW, it’s not how many partners Starbucks has. It’s how many they’ve had. If you leave and then return, you still have the same numbers no matter how long of a gap you left for. Those are your numbers for life. You could have worked 10 years ago and had 105XXX and quit, then return 10 years later and your still 105XXX.
