Register Training (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by spidascott
So I’m about to finish my training before this friday. Once Friday comes I’m gonna start ACTUALLY working and being on the register for a while.

The system is fairly simple but I don’t remember how to differentiate which orders fall under espresso and cold brews within the register because there are so many variations to each drink.

Is there any resources you guys have to help become more comfortable with working on register.

P.S. I’m working on weekends at the mall, which is like the absolute busiest time to work there. That’s why I need to figure out things fast.

I thought I was never gonna learn and one day I just... knew. I didn’t even realize that I knew where everything was and the same with making drinks. Sometimes I still can’t find stuff but that’s only when there’s a new drink or food

Practice, practice, practice. Get a friendly coworker to tell you a drink and see if you can find it on the menu when there’s downtime in the store. Or do what I did and take pictures of every screen, but that’s kind of tedious to study.

I’m going to work today so I’ll see if I can sketch up a reference for you.

if you could that would be great!

if you still have photos of the screens on the register and u could send it, that would be great!

So I asked my manager and I’m not allowed to share photos of the register :,( but!! I highly suggest taking photos for yourself! It should be helpful.

I had a job once where part of the training on the computer was going through mock transactions and you practiced pushing the buttons and running payments through. I wish Sbux had something like that where it was like a simulator and it gave you made up drink orders, common drink orders, drinks with all kinds of modifications just to give you practice going between screens and making sure you’re entering everything in correctly and efficiently.
