Problem regulars? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by chyy326
How does your store deal with problem regulars? We have one who comes on almost daily and orders a latte,+caramel drizzle, soy, decaf, add a lot of foam on top (to where you cant close the lid), wait for it to settle and add more caramel on top. A few weeks ago she went OFF on the closer saying how nobody makes her drinks right, how shes never coming back, etc. For the next few days she went to the Krobucks next door to order but would come in to drink it. Petty but whatever.

Next she went to one of my off-clock coworkers and kept talking to her and her friend (an ex employee) and when my coworker left (shes a black woman) she made racist comments about how whites should never marry blacks, etc... and then made homophobic comments. The girl she was talking to is a lesbian and my coworker is her best friend, which shouldve been obvious.

The last time she came in when I was working my coworker excused herself because she didnt feel comfortable talking to her after her comments (shes the one who had talked to her off the clock) she accused me of stealing "her only $5" (she found it when she needed to pay but maintained I stole it) and tried to accuse me of "stealing" her BOGO cookie coupon but my manager came up at that point and explained that our systems weren't working correctly and coupons weren't printing. Management reviewed the cameras afterwards to verify she never handed me the money I supposedly stole, but being a brand new employee that could've easily cost me my job.

Management knows about her but haven't barred her from coming, I was just wondering how your store handles customers like these?

IDK if your store got the sign to post but mine did about appropriate use of space. It's literally posted in our store that hateful language will result in being asked to leave. Being obnoxious and whatnot is to be expected of some customers, but the hateful stuff? Nuh-uh no. If your SM is unwilling to act on that specific issue, you should escalate it. In my case, I'm a big fan of killing them with kindness but also being very clear on policy. If I was in your shoes, I would double-check with the partner she talked about to see if she was okay with it and then inform that person next time of exactly why that partner would not serve her and that I would be following suit henceforth. But that's just me, I value my integrity over my job and I actually think the bux would have my back on it if someone decided to raise a fuss.
