It amazes me that partners can continuously be late, do a couple no call no shows, literally stand around and not lift a finger, while whipping out their cell phones every two minutes while ignoring customers, eat various food items and text while in DT and still have a job. Goodtimes.

Once you realize how hard it is to be fired from Starbucks and how little incentive there is to try you free yourself from Starbuck’s grasp. I’m only saying this because the new labor system doesn’t benefit actual work ethic but availability so what is the point of going the extra mile anymore if I don’t get more hours because of it. Also they don’t fire people because how god awful the on boarding system is for new hires. Every time we get a new hire in my store it takes a month before they train and then another month before they are any use to the store.

Somehow you described my highschooler coworkers. We have one kid that won't even call in or say anything until you message him 10 mins before his shift. "I'm sick". He always calls in every Saturday. At this point, just change your availability???

I’m not sure about other districts, but ours recently made some changes and sent out a letter, which all our staff members were required to read, saying how this kind of behavior and negative attitudes were no longer going to be permitted. Anyone who showcases these behaviors would be fired immediately.

I’m not amazed. It used to be a hip and cool job that was hard to get. Great benefits and good work environment. Now it’s fast food, DT times and minimum wage. It’s a revolving door now and there are so many hoops to jump through to even get the benefits that are so good (but so expensive for health insurance) that many don’t take advantage of them anyway. So they will continue to have this problem because even if these kind of people get fired, they don’t care. They will pick up another minimum wage job the next day.

This behavior would never fly in my store. There's usually a standard-abiding store in every district - ask around and find out which store is the strictest on behavioral policies and try to transfer there.

You can report the behavior to your SM and if it's still a problem or they won't step in, especially if it's impacting your ability to do your job, then you can raise it to your DM. Personally, I'm 100% that bitch that will ever so subtly tell someone that there are tasks to be done or I will go up to someone and gawk at their phones if they have them out.
