I'm pretty much an exclusive closer for 3 years now, and tbh it can be a really hard job because we depend so much on the rest of the day getting their stuff done. We literally have to clean up after everyone else. Sometimes all hell breaks loose and there really aren't enough of us to deal with it. Buuuuut maybe if you find you're having issues like that with your closers, y'all might want to talk to your SM about establishing some priorities. For example: dishes must be done, backups should be made, front should be stocked. But things like lobby floors, for example, can be left for last or done sparingly if everything else is rough. Say, sweep but don't mop and just inform openers about it. There's usually enough lull and/or extra hands early in the morning to touch up on stuff like that.

Closing shift definitely should not be leaving dishes, or anything out and about. I close most days and we get everything done. I even do a once or twice over with a washcloth to make sure everything looks good. So I’d bring that up to your GM or shift as soon as you can. Closing shift has a job to do and if they’re not doing it, it’s unfair to opening shift.

I stopped at my drive thru on the way out of town last night and waited over fifteen minutes from speaker box to leaving and we have a really short drive thru compared to every other store I’ve worked. There was only two other cars in line. It was bad. Then earlier in the week an SM from another store played secret shopper and was treated horribly by one of our baristas. I love all the people on evenings but when these things happen it’s really frustrating.

i feel like usually night crew just isn’t always taught to do things. my night crew didn’t know to calibrate the machines at the end of night for literally forever.
