The Starbucks smell! Help! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by nutty_bananas
Okay ladies and gents. I need any and all advice, tips and tricks about how to get the permeating smell of Starbucks out of your hair, skin clothes without having to completely shower and wash your hair after every shift. It’s driving me crazy and after 7 years I still haven’t figured it out. All help is appreciated

Edit:my biggest problem is my hair smelling like it after work. I don’t mind changing my clothes but I don’t want to have to wash my hair every day.. I haven’t found a good dry shampoo that really gets rid of the smell. Such a bummer

I have “work only” clothes. So that’s easy enough to deal with because I also wash it separately from the rest of my clothes. As for my self, I have very fragrant shampoo. I use herbal essences because it smells nice and I smell like it almost all day.

I also use herbal essences and it does the job well of getting the smell out :)

Sorry I'm no help, just .. same, and I've only been a partner for 6 months. Sometimes, I'd like to not smell like frap roast and sani.

Febreeze your clothes/apron/inside your bag etc

Dry shampoo for the hair, look for something herbal smelling. baby wipes for arms and stomach where stuff likes to seep through. Take your clothes off right after work, bonus points for packing comfy clothes in the car to change into.

Yep, change of clothes, dry shampoo, body towelettes. The trifecta.

I have the same issue but at this point I’ve given up. My little sister always tells me she likes to smell my hair because it smells like coffee so I guess that’s something haha

Like someone else mentioned, I have work only clothes but unfortunately I do shower after every shift because I can’t stand smelling like 10 different syrups and milks on top of smelling like coffee. It doesn’t even matter is I showered before my shift too I can’t stand it.

You just accept it as part of your life now.

As a former barista (last worked there over 15 years ago!), I stiiiilll feel like I have the smell on me, even when I just hang out in a store for an hour or two. So what you’re feeling (smelling) is real!

All mentioned above and ALSO I figured out that if you bring a jacket into the store, keep it in a locker (assuming every Starbucks has lockers in the back) with the door shut. Your stuff won’t smell like a giant coffee bean that way :)
