What's the policy on borrowing partners? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by jess-lint-art
I've worked as a borrowed partner at a store in my district, and I decided after the second time that I really didn't like it. I was scheduled a shift there for next week and I'm pretty pissed. One of my SSVs had a similar experience (worked there voluntarily, hated it, was then scheduled 3 shifts there without consent even after expressing her frustration with the experience). I brought it up to my SM, and mentioned that one of our partners offered to switch shifts for the day but that we hadn't completely gone through with it yet. She said she'd allow that this one time, but that "We are ALL Starbucks partners and we need to help where help is needed." This completely goes against the policy I was told, which was that the SM had to ask before scheduling partners elsewhere. What is the real policy??

Tl;dr, scheduled as a borrowed partner at a store i hate working at, was given two different policies about borrowing partners. What is the real policy?

If no one posts here Try crossposting on r/Starbucks a lot of partners post there

I’m a barista but I’ve never been borrowed and I’m not sure on the policy... maybe check the handbook or call pcc and ask them the official policy?? Sorry I’m not much of a help here

Unfortunately they can have you go to a different store. It is, however, kinda shitty to not have asked or checked with you first. If the other store is out of your way, maybe tell your SM that it is. Additionally, let them know you’re not comfortable working at a different store since you’re not familiar with it. It might get your SM to stop scheduling you there (or letting the other store’s SM schedule you there).

Nope, the new sm is right. You work for Starbucks, not one specific location but the company itself. Some sms will typically ask to be nice but they are in no way required to ask.

Pretty sure they’re not supposed to do that without your consent. Especially when you got hired at your store, you agreed to work at that location. Working at another store, especially when you’re not an ASM, is not what you and the company agreed upon when you got hired. If the SM isn’t much help, go to the DM. Or Partner relations
