Did Starbucks corporate mention anything recently regarding the sale of puppuccinos? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by firsttimesbuxpartner
Hi all, I was just told by one of my partners that we are technically no longer allowed to offer or give away puppuccinos/"pup cups" to customers because it can make us liable if the dog becomes sick due to the high fat/sugar content in the whipped cream we make, and that it can cause pancreatitis in dogs. I was also told that corporate had sent out a memo about this a while ago, but I can't find the memo anywhere. Does anyone know where I could find it?

I haven’t heard that but you could try asking your DM and checking the hub

This is BS. Pancreatitis can be caused by any number of things, and will be very hard to trace back to whipped cream. Offering/giving away free stuff and is never a good business practice, but is not implicitly stated as against policy. Making Starbucks liable means the value of the dog, not the dog’s medical bills. Whatever you heard needs basis and sounds like gossip.

All this being said, just because the dog likes them does not mean the dog’s body likes them. Just like people.

Yeah, I asked my manager for any further information and there was never a memo posted... our old DM was just very wary about the potential side effects of giving the dogs the whipped cream. I've done my own research and dogs become lactose intolerant as they grow older.
There's this article I read, it's pretty informative: https://www.superfoodly.com/starbucks-puppuccino/
