My rant for the day (self.starbucksbaristas)

Warning I'm on mobile so this may turn out weird.

Oh God where to start... Okay so I'm decent at bar. I always make drinks right and no one ever complains. Many of my coworkers are faster than me but they often cut corners and make mistakes and have drinks sent back but I never do. That's one thing I take pride in. But I also rarely get put on bar cuz what they want is speed which makes sense. But today (sunday) they put me on bar.

I was on bar from 2-9 with neither of my 10s and it seemed like peak would never end. We were down two people at a drive through store and it was almost as busy as I've ever seen it. The stickers were to the floor for at least three hours straight and I was only me on cafe bar (with a constant crowd) and my buddy on DT. There was our shift manager on register and also trying to do cs but there were too many people and there was another barista on drive through doing the same. It was terrible.

The Georgia state women's volleyball team all came to our store and stood right found my bar. Btw I'm 5'10" and they were all over 6' which was kinda weird. They kept talking about me too and watching my every move. They were talking about how long I was taking and commenting on the different drinks I was making. At one point their coach said "you guys are watching him so close it's even making ME uncomfortable".

A little after the volleyball team left there was a guy who ordered a doppio with 2% and I heard him yelling at the register guy about something. Finally he made his way over to me and started yelling about how people had come in after him and gotten their drinks before him so it didnt make any sense (which wasn't true). Then when I made his drink he yelled about how he wanted the milk in a separate cup so I remade it. Then he said he wanted it hot so I heated it up. Then he yelled about how it took so long that he should get his money back so I told him he'd have to go to the register for that. Then he yelled that he wanted brown sugar and that we were out and that I had to get him a couple raw sugars. So I got him a couple then he yelled that he wanted four so I gave him two more. All this time he was legitimately yelling and everyone was staring. The only good thing that came from this was that the other customers saw what happened and gave me some space and stopped complaining for a while.

The third incident was right when we finally slowed down and could breathe and a couple ladies came in and conversed with us and seemed to actually sympathize and be friendly. We all really appreciated it cuz of how shitty the day had been beforehand. It turns out that they were just leading us up to a multi level marketing business pitch and gave us all their business cards. They actually made me think they cared and made my day a little brighter then they showed us that all they cared about was getting our money.

Thanks if anyone actually read the whole thing. That was my terrible shitty absolutely no good shift.

i feel this, i work at a target starbucks and the only schedule two of us for mids, and one for closing, and there’s no one to give us breaks, so when it gets busy we’re basically stuck and just have to deal with it

My store has four people during the afternoon peak so I wouldn’t know how this is. I’m sorry bro.

I pick up Montgomery’s card and actually finger it, for the sensation the card gives off to the pads of my fingers.

“Nice, huh?” Price’s tone suggests he realizes I’m jealous.

“Yeah,” I say offhandedly, giving Price the card like I don’t give a shit, but I’m finding it hard to swallow.
