Ensuring a Job at Starbucks (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Seascapewaves
Hi! Im a female, 16 year old girl who is looking into getting my first job. Working at Starbucks is very high on my list of places to work, and I’ve applied to four in my area. I’ve given the job a lot of thought and I believe i’ll be ready for the physical and emotional toll if I get hired. I really want to know what else I can do to increase my chances of getting a job there. I’ve submitted my online applications, with no resume because I have no idea what to write, but I’m wondering if Ishould’ve submitted one even if it’s lacking. Also, should I call the store and ask if they’ve recieved my application? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Starbucks is my first actual job, as I too am a 16 yr. old.
I applied via website to a Starbucks and didn’t hear back for a few weeks. I don’t remember putting in a resume, but I just mentioned I had done volunteer work and I knew how to work cashiers. After a few weeks I received a call from the store and had a phone interview, which the following week I had an in-person interview (I got hired :)).

Definitely go with a resume, even if it only has volunteer jobs. You can put down any charity work you’ve done, some skills, schedule, and your “goal”. I had to look up tutorials online to make my first resume.

I applied to Starbucks three times and didn’t get a call back either, until one day I decided to show up and ask to talk to the store manager. We met, shook hands, exchanged names. And since the store I’m working at is the only one in my county, she told me to check in next month for availability. That’s exactly what I did so when I followed up with her she already recognized me and we scheduled an interview.

Tip for the interview... Starbucks is all about customer connections. Put an emphasis on your social skills so they’ll see how dedicated you are to customer service. That’s what mainly got me the job!

Literally applied to Starbucks for 3 years, never heard back.
When I applied to this one recently, I decided to just call them, the manager quickly realized who I was and said she was just looking at my resume and I got hired the next day.
Just call and act like you really want it!
I desperately wanted this job, and even tho it's truly exhausting, it's very rewarding!

you're going to need a resume

Would it be fine if I print one and give it to them personally at the store? I’ve seen a lot of peopld mention this.

yea that would be good, it may also be good to find out when their manager is working next, drop off your resume and introduce yourself to the manager at the same time :)

If I’m being totally honest your application without a resume would probably be quickly passed over and on to someone who did include a resume. I think that that’s something that should always be included.

I didnt attach a resume to my application and i got hired just fine. For someone who is 16 and probably not that much work experience a resume isnt going to make much of a difference.

Edit: i recommend going into the locations youve applied for and talking with the store managers that youre looking to be hired so that they can pull your application into the system to start the hiring process.

Hi! So do I just ask the cashiers who work there if I can see the manager? Also what’s the best time/day to go so I won’t be a nuisance

I double this! Just make sure to follow up and physically see those managers at those stores
