Secret Menu Participation (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by frappequeen
Okay Starbucks Baristas, I need to know. I see all of these photos online with secret menu items and such that people are sharing around. They typically have a recipe (with the correct amount of pumps per syrup according to the size) and then in the caption says “you can thank me later 👅”. But in reality... do people really bring these screen shot photos of crazy drinks into Starbucks and ask you to make them? And how common is it really? I feel like if I was a barista and someone presented me with these photos my eyes would roll into the back of my head lol

personally I don't mind if someone asks for a "secret menu" drink as long as they have the recipe.

it's a different story when someone just says something like "can I have the sugarsparkle frappuccino" and get upset that we have zero idea how to make it since it's not actually on our menu.

“But so and so store makes it!”

I work at a drive thru only location, and people will drive through and shove their phones in my face and just say "I want this". Its awful and I hate it.

THIS. I can’t see stuff when it’s two inches from my face. Also, personal space.

The eyeball roll is usually hidden behind a smile 😊 I have a customer that comes everyday with a new concoction. She will ask if we have the ingredients and if we do it’s all good. Most of the “secret menu” items are no harder to make then a heavily modified latte. Having the ingredient list is a must and it is not uncommon for people to have a screenshot. My favourite is people who make a face and hand me their phone because a friend has asked them to order 😂

The amount of times I've had to explain that we don't actually have a "Secret Menu" and that I need a recipe for what they want is ridiculous. I don't care what the name or the picture is, I just need the recipe

Okay, I HATE when people tell me there’s a “secret menu.” No such thing, I tell people that. I tell them I’ll make whatever they want so long as they tell me what’s in it. I don’t care about making specific drinks but I hate when people get uppity with me over a drink that isn’t actually on the menu. It is not my job to know what the internet has made up and decided is a Starbucks drink.

I’ve had photos of the photo of the photo of the drink they want me to make.

It’s happened like three times while I was taking the order, one girl asked me if I knew what a grasshopper was and I did not, but she had a recipe so it was ok.
The second time happened yesterday but in the drive through and oh my gosh there were so many ingredients but the customers were very nice about it so i didn’t mind

It's not a problem at all! We have a lot of customers come through my store who don't know the recipe and seem really annoyed they have to Google it for themselves. Stop saying mega chocolate cinna whatever and tell me the pumps, damn it!

Love it!! Im glad to hear that it’s not too much of a hassle for most of the baristas here! I have always been so curious lol. Maybe one day I will try a secret menu item 😂
