Banning Awful Customers (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by SuperMonkey5252
My store for the first time has banned a customer! I’m sure everyone is thinking what an awful store, but when tips and merch are stolen (daily) and my brand new partners are getting yelled at during peak because they had to charge the customer for add ons their tall tea after their umpteenth refill I cannot feel bad. I plead with all partners that if a customer is not making your store YOUR 3RD PLACE they do not deserve to be in your store! Even though this job is tough emotionally and physically it should never get to the point where you fear coming to work because of a customer!

There's a guys that's been banned from like 3 stores now, including ours, for harassing/hitting on employees (including minors) and for following girls home after their shifts at the othwr locations he was banned at.

there’s a guy who’s a regular at our store and i only recently heard abt him bc he comes during the days where i dont work.

my female coworkers have told me creepy stories where this old ass dude creeps up behind them and touches them on the shoulder. just last week this dude came in asking for a refill when he definitely didn’t order a drink. and when we told him we couldn’t give him a refill and we would have to charge him full price he yelled at our shift (who’s the sweetest person ever) even though it was not her fault at all.

we’ve yet to ban him but i really hope we do..

My store has only banned one person that I know of and it was a regular who was very nice (older) and he was a Vietnam veteran. He got close to me and two other baristas but started texting one (male) saying he couldn’t live without us. For Christmas he gave me a card saying I was his adopted grandson and all this and $20. He gave the other baristas the same treatment but not the grandson thing (I was 16 at the time). He must have gotten a picture of the schedule because he asked me why I was going to be gone for two weeks and I told him I was having surgery. He told me he was going to visit but I said no he didn’t have to ( I didn’t tell him which hospital I was going to be at or where in the hospital). The day of my surgery arrives and I have it (everything went fine) and after I find out he somehow got to a part where my family was waiting in the family only area and somehow got my mom to give him my number where he sent a long ass text saying I’m his adopted grandson and he’s an old worrier and asked where I was. I didn’t respond cause wtf and I texted one of my baristas who was originally the target “what the fuck”. I am resting and he somehow found out which room I was and had a fake sling on his arm to look like he belonged and waited outside my room until I was alone. He walked in told me to smile and he was worried and all this shit. I called the nurse after he left and I took pictures of him in my room because what the actual fuck. I was moved and everyone was shook. He got banned and the police have him on file and know the situation. He never came back thank god

My store banned a regular because he went to one of our partners other job and threatened to fight him.

It was the weirdest thing in the world cause everybody liked the regular and we never expected that.

We've had a regular for a few years who likes to stare at the baristas and masturbate (both over and under his pants) in the cafe. We have not been able to technically ban him.

What!! Why? That’s public indecency and illegal (assuming you live in the US)

Canada but it still counts, we suspect the kid has some mental issues but we haven't been able to talk to him let alone call the police as he runs away the second someone steps towards him.

Call the police the second he steps in the store, don’t approach or talk to him at all let the police arrive and arrest him. What he’s doing is sexual harassment, and mental issues or not, it needs to be addressed and punished accordingly. Why the fuck hasn’t your manager done something more about this? Thats intolerable. I would file a report to HR honestly, exposing your employees repeatedly to such an occurrence and not having dealt with it properly yet, or seemingly not having done anything at all to deal with it is also completely untenable and doesn’t align with any values Starbucks tries to purport.

My advice if you know generally around what time they come by, Alert the police prior and have them work with your store and DM to find away to resolve this, it’s not very 3rd place at all

Wow... I wish we’d ban some customers. We have a list going of customers that we wish would never come back to our store haha
