Store is so slow that I feel like going to work is more social hour than actual work and I kinda don’t like it (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hi, guys!!

I recently transferred to a new, SLOW store. I love working there and I love my coworkers. The only thing I’ve been dealing with recently is just the lack of satisfaction after work.

I close. Anyone who closes knows that conversation is constant throughout the night, but here it’s way different there our casually conversations. We were done with all of our duties with an hour to spare. Only one customer came the hour before close, so we were basically left to stand there. We tried to act like we were doing things here and there but there was legitimately nothing to do. So we eventually just stood around an talked about people and ourselves. I like doing that, duh... but I feel so useless. It makes me feel bad in a way.

I just wanna know if anyone else has had this issue lol I feel like I’m whining for nothing

I work at a super slow store as well- I think the key is to stay busy with cleaning tasks or training or whatever. You could always try deep cleaning something or going over the top to make the openers have a smooth day ✌️

If I ever have free time closing, which isn’t often anymore because our hours changed, we start prep for in the morning or take apart our oatmeal stuff and clean it. Or go through all the toppings for lattes and throw them away

This happens all the time when I close haha. But I just start making drinks that I’ve never tried before, or even make new concoctions! That way when people ask me if I’ve tried something, or if I have and suggestions for them, I’ll know of some good stuff! Otherwise, having it be slow is super nice for me. Starbucks is my second job, and it’s nice to have a little bit of a slower evening compared to my full time job 😂
