Anyone else get yelled at by a customer about the new rewards system yet?? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’ve only been working at my store for 3 weeks and never got a mean customer yet (surprisingly) until today. I started my shift at 5am and was put on POS. My very first customer of the day was this man who said he was a regular. He was super kind at first up until I told him his 125 stars wasn’t enough to get his drink free because of the new system. He kept saying “that’s not what my app says!” Even after telling him it’s because it probably hasn’t been updated on his phone. I had to get my SM who told him what I just told him and he still refused to listen so she comped his drink but told him next time she wouldn’t. What a great start to my early morning shift, haha! Can’t wait to have more of these encounters for the next few weeks...

Luckily everyone who says they have a free reward and doesn’t even have like any stars yet..... has been cool and understanding for me. I like warn people before like they say they have a reward I just say very like stern but friendly “ they changed the program let me look and tell you what you have earned” and they listen. Good luck tho! You got this! People will adjust and it will be fine lol

Oh for sure. This lady the other day said that we should have honored her “free drink” that she had available three days before the new system started, and started arguing with my shift lead about it. It’s gonna be a mess for a couple weeks I’m sure. 🙄🙄 just like when they changed the birthday reward and how long those are good for. 😐😐

Yep.
One of our regulars said “I’m about done with Starbucks and see exactly what they are doing de-valuing the points/star system.”
My shift and other partner were trying to keep it positive, I was the only one nodding in agreement with her.
So there’s that.

Currently headed there too! I just let people know that the star system has changed and then comp their drink if they don't have enough stars.

I'm confused. We haven't changed the loyalty system yet in Ireland. We only need 15 stars for a free drink?

So the new one is five tiers.
25 stars: drink modification up to $1
50 stars: free brewed coffee or pastry
150 stars: free drink or breakfast sandwich
200 stars: free lunch sandwich or salad
400 stars: free merch up to $20 or pound of coffee
I think it works a lot better esp for people who only get a black coffee every day but others don't like that lunch sandwiches are more and regular free drinks are an extra 25 stars.
