Ideally you would do a French press of a coffee that you like. During the brewing/tasting talk about where the coffee is from (Latin America, Asia, etc) and what characteristics beans from those areas have. You could also print the coffee fact sheet from the Partner Hub and reference that during or before your tasting to get more information.
Share a personal experience about that coffee-whether it is a specific customer who always gets a pour over of that coffee, or maybe a friend or roommate shared this coffee with you. Or make something up about how you have an emotional attachment to it. They eat that up.
Sniff, slurp, and describe. If you’re no good at tasting coffee, literally read what’s on the bag and paraphrase it so it sounds like you know what you’re talking about.
If you panic and run out of things to talk about- it never hurts to touch on the four fundamentals: proportion, grind, water quality, and freshness.
Good luck!
