submitted by Seascapewaves
Thank you for your help, the application process was less scary, and out of the 6 Starbucks I applied to, I was able to land an interview for one this monday :) Does anyone have any tips for what kind of questions I should expect or answers that I should give? Thank you!!!

Make your previous customer service experience a highlight in all your answers.

Also. When asked why you want to work for Starbucks, please don’t say you are just there for the money or free coffee.

managers want to hear specific answers in the S.T.A.R (situation, task, action, result) format. They’re going to ask you “tell me about a time” type questions and want you to really tell details. Starbucks is really pushing customer connection right now, so strong customer service is huge!

Most of the questions are scenario based and managers are specifically looking for ways you’ve handled conflict, what excellent service means to you, and whether or not you have a sincere desire to drive positive change. In my store, I also ask questions to learn about reliability, honesty, and willingness to learn.

My top priorities are consistency, communication, and connection. Every manager has different top priorities. Be happy. Make eye contact. Show enthusiasm and ask for a moment to think rather than blurting our an answer you may not love. Ask questions if you’re curious about anything in role. Good luck and congratulations!!!

The first time I ever entered a Starbucks was for my interview haha. Don’t worry too much about knowing everything about the business. Just make yourself seem outgoing, friendly, and like you can multi task. A big thing at Starbucks is connecting with customers so making sure the employer knows you can talk to people will be very helpful.

Good luck!
Edit: spelling /grammar

I watched this video and it helped so much with my interview!
$1

I focused on highlighting how important the human connection is for me in jobs that I do, and how much I agree with what Starbucks’ values are as a company. The manager was so impressed and literally said if the DM had been there for my interview his hair would have been on fire at some of my answers because they’re spot on and exactly what they want to hear.

But I literally just studied the night before and morning of my interview by watching that video and following the advice in it, and just coming up with key points to bring up like history, mission statement, their vision, customer connection, humanity and the sacred ritual of morning coffee for a lot of people 🤷🏻‍♀️ just sell yourself and sell the company back to them and they’ll be eating out of your hand! Of course be genuine, don’t make promises for what you won’t actually bring to the table or say you agree with a policy then day one backtrack or not star by it.

You’ll rock it! Good luck!!! 🙌🏻

Be available to do a million tasks at once with no objection to how shitty working conditions can be at times, always a smile on your face and able to be abused by customers and coworkers alike, many multiple times a day, without being allowed to have any kind of response, or you will be considered annoying or a trouble maker

Sometimes the job can be fun but it’s never chill trust me . And there is a lot to learn at first but you got this
