Tall rant about coworker who doesn’t work (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by clairedixon
I’m a little irked by this because of what one of my other partners told me today but we have a minor working at our store but not only can she not open or close per starbucks policy, she only works like 1 day a week in a specific time frame because she says she has other jobs. I also heard she’s homeschooled? Idk.

My coworker told me this morning that she was looking for someone to cover easter for her because she has kids and wanted to celebrate with them if possible, so she asked around to see if anyone could and the minor said she would do it. This shift starts at 7am so she’s allowed to. Well last minute, after my coworker already excitedly tells her family she’ll be free for easter, the minor texts her saying she actually can’t because her grandparents won’t “let” her?

I’m annoyed because I always see her coming in to use her partner discount but I never see her working then she pulls something like this... My shift and store manager were pretty upset too and I think they talked to her. Idk just thought I’d vent this out here.

This is why I usually hate minors because there’s a lot of bullshit. Then, the most amazing minor started working at my store. I seriously could not believe how hard he worked. I’m sorry your minor is being a POS and using “my grandpa won’t let me” instead of just owning the fact that they didn’t want to work or they shouldn’t have taken the shift if they know their family is strict.

Fuck that. The store manager should have said tough shit. Once you accept a shift, it's your problem now and if they couldn't work it then it's up to them to get it covered. Annoying.
