From what I've seen, it's totally a store to store thing, but if you're telling them you need more hours, you should be able to do it. I have full availability, and I've been told from day one that I'm a full timer. Maybe bring it up with your dm if you're not satisfied with the decision of your sm

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. It seems that way too. I think I'll definitely wait a bit till i go as far as contacting my DM, just because i just started (and I'm somewhat hesitant of causing drama) I also learned I have the ability to pick up shifts at other locations if need be but being that you said you were deemed full time automatically due to your availability- my situation bothers me more. I love a day off but...only working 3 days out of a week is unsatisfying.

That's totally valid. I've been here about a month, I just don't like getting pushed around by management. It's also ok to stand up for yourself. You're just trying to get what you should be, nothing more.

Thank you all for the words of advice. I feel super welcomed here and honestly thought I'd be barraged with comments telling me i was being silly about this situation 🌻 I truly feel the solidarity. I'll lurk around and if anything else comes up, I'll keep you guys updated.

I would 1 talk to your manager again and tell them that you need more hours, and if they can't give them to you, ask if there are other stores that need help. 2 if you're using Ubers to get to work, go to the partner benefits page and look up how to get the transportation credit. It still kind of sucks, but Starbucks will take a chunk out of your paycheck pretax toward your transportation fees. Again it's not the best but it might help a little with your money situation.

You don't have to be a shift to be full time, I think that's just a store thing. If it gets to be that your manager won't give you anything else look into transferring.

I would see if there’s a way for you to pick up hours at others stores. I know in my district we have a Facebook page where people post shifts they don’t want- it’s usually not too hard to get enough hours that way.

I think it’s fair that you’re feeling upset but that often hours has to do with availabilities and store needs. For instance it’s nice to have shorter shifts that don’t require 30 minute breaks so it’s easier for the shift to run breaks not during peak. I’ve definitely worked in stores where only shifts could be guaranteed full time hours because of store needs etc.

I hope you’re able to work it out ❤️
