How many of you are pierced?(self.starbucksbaristas)

I had an interview today and got offered the job, just have to wait for the background check. I was told to take out my philtrum, vertical labret (which was already out), and my septum (has a large plug in it). I’m sad to loose my piercings and want to share with people who would understand 😬

I am! 🙋🏼♀️ I have my septum and I have a ring that I flip up every day. I think it’s stupid as all heck tho. If we can have tattoos why can’t we have piercings? If we can have crazy colored hair, why can’t we have piercings?? It’s dumbbbb. So I understand your pain. 😭

No piercings but I feel this about having my nails polished. Traditional polish and fake nails I get cause of bacteria and flaking but I used gel polish and cleaned houses for 3 years, hands in and out of water and cleaners all day long and still had manicures last me 3 weeks. 🤷🏻♀️ guess I’ll just keep dying my hair fun colors to make up for it lol

I think the main problem with gel nails is that it’s hard for the health inspector to tell the difference between gel and acrylic. The health inspectors I’ve dealt with have all been nice dudes, but I don’t think their bureaucracy has caught up with nail technology yet.

Same! Gel is so resistant I don’t understand1, I think the policies haven’t caught up with the times.

Flip up your septum and get hiders for the rest, and hope you work for a SM who couldn’t care less. I started way back in the day when we couldn’t even have visible tattoos, so I had to take out my piercings and it made me super sad. Now, I don’t care what my baristas have as long as my DM doesn’t get on my case about it, but I do ask them to flip up septums and use flesh-toned jewelry in the rest. Actually, one of those silicone flesh-toned plugs might work nicely in your septum, too, though I never had a septum piercing so I can’t speak from experience.

I work for LS but my manager said as long as it's presentable she doesn't care! I've never been told anything by the health department either and I'm usually present for all of them! (Lip ring, several cartilage piercings, tongue and septum) Hopefully you get someone who is pretty chill about it too, I've always asked about them before I start a job and have been lucky to get managers who don't care.

I have just a plastic retainer in for my septum that I flip up when I work. I also have my eyebrow pierced and although it’s not technically in dress code no ones ever said anything to me about it, I Do wear glasses tho so it’s not super obvious. And I have the standard nostril stud but so do a bunch of my other coworkers

See what happens if u leave a couple in , i was told to take mine out during interview, didnt, no one said anything

I bought retainers for my septum, philtrum, and tongue. My labret is already trained to not close up so I hope they won’t notice it and tell me to remove them still.

My septum is a 2g and I just wear retainers or plugs in it and call it a day. They can tell you not to wear jewelry in it but they can’t make you close it up, so just wear jewelry off the clock. Or you could go the route of one of my partners when she decided to get her philtrum pierced - tiny square bandaid over it.

My septum is at an 8mm (0g) and I had a plug in it for my interview, it was still brought up but so was my vertical labret which was already out. All of my retainers should show up in the mail tomorrow tho so hopefully I’ll be fine, I got silicone retainers so hopefully they’re not brought up.

I hope your store is fine with the retainers! I wear kaos earskins in mine a lot and in my nostril, it’s a 4g these days. No one at my store really seems to care.
