Hiring process as a barista. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by psychologynlangauges
I’m going to apply at my local Starbucks and I have some questions;
What is Starbucks looking for in an employee?
What are the best “skills” I can put on me résumé that Starbucks want to see?
What is the interview process and the frequent questions they ask?
How long does it take to be notified that you got the job?
What is the learning process of being a barista and how long does it take?

Thank you in advance.

During my interview my manager told me that they can teach anyone to make a latte, what their biggest focus is for baristas is the ability to make a connection with the customers 👌🏻 Also if you work well under pressure/high pace environments. My store needed an opener so as soon as my training is finished I’ll be thrown to the sharks so they needed to know I could handle it 😂 I watched this video before my interview and aced it! $1 GOOD LUCK! 🙌🏻

I would say go to the store and ask if she’s come to a decision yet.

So commenting on the bureaucracy: the time it takes for them to get back to you varies depending on the store.
From submitting your resume to them asking for an interview: they might not initiate it depending on how full they are of baristas. Sow initiative, call the store, show up at the store during open hours and see if you can talk to the Store Manager. The more you get your face in front of them, the more they’re likely to offer you an interview (this is for any job)

From Resume to Job offer: maybe a week or two? Call back after maybe a week to check.

Learning curve on the job: yes we can teach anyone to make a latte, but I’ll be honest, this job gets more complex every quarter that goes by. The place your looking to find is the spot where you’re comfortable on bar. This can take anywhere from 1 month to 7 months depending on the work ethic/drive/#hours worked on bar/etc of the barista. Don’t assume you’ll be a 7or 8-monther, but strive to be a 1 monther.
I would recommend trying to work a few nights/pre closes to work during a slower time where you can take the drinks slower in order to get them down
Talk to your trainer for better/easier ways to learn them all outside of work as well.

Good luck!

I interviewed last Friday, the manager told me she would call me Monday, she never called, and hasn’t yet. I called this morning and she told me she’d call me back and she never called me. What do i do?
