For the record, I'm saying 5th time because I've already had to show up 4 times before this because my supervisors couldn't find someone to cover my shift. In reality I've been scheduled off my availability about 10 times. Those other times they were able to find coverage

This happens all the time at my store you are not alone.

If you're being scheduled outside of your availability and you manager won't listen to you, I would contact your DM and talk to them about it. You literally should never be scheduled outside of your availability.

Also, check your availability in Teamworks. I’ve heard some people had their availability changed during the switch.

Unfortunately all partners are subject to stores needs it’s in the partner handbook. Most likely your best option is to trade the shift if you can. You don’t have a ground to stand on. You need to approach it from a different direction vs conflict and drama.

Most likely the best course of actions is to stay calm and investigate why it is happening. Is it an availability issue in how your availability is currently set up. Is it a staffing issue with in the store. Do you require a set amount of hours each week and your Sm is trying to get you there but your availability is causing issue or to limited to actually get there?

As an SM we have to balance business needs vs partner needs. It’s a give and take. Most times this has come up in my store is when a partner is trying to use availability to write their schedule and not giving me enough room to take care of the business.

It's not the baristas job to be the bigger person in this scenario. Especially after 10 instances of being scheduled outside of availability in 4 months.

The sm needs to figure out a sustainable way to get coverage, and communicate with her employees to get things right. Not just write impossible schedules, throw up their hands and say "It's your shift, work it or find coverage" over and over.

Well one of us does this job and one of us does not.

You can say what you like, I’m just being honest and telling you how it is. While the op is saying what they are saying it also doesn’t make it true. There is a lot with the situation that the op didn’t post so you can say what you like.

A partners availability is their responsibility and they do have a responsibility to work with the business. That would be why it is written in the partner handbook and it clearly states that.

Either you take ownership of that responsibility or you act against it. Acting against it will most likely result in the same.

Actually I do work here, and I work really hard to put my exact availability in team works. I would expect the courtesy for my superiors to respect that scheduling, and communicate to me verbally or in text form if they want me to be here outside of that availability. Not to just schedule it TEN TIMES.

I also cover a lot of shifts and trade shifts with almost anyone who asks, and stay late sometimes and ask for time off as far in advance as I can. If the person writing the schedule doesn't appreciate that commitment to be available and flexible, perhaps they are the ones who need to check themselves.

I know you are a partner but you are not an SM, I would bet that you have partners in your store that call out or have availability issues. So while you have an amazing experience because you are flexible not all partners have that in store experience that you have because they are less flexible.

Right now you are only getting half the story, my bet is the op is more responsible for the situation that they are letting on. They most likely are not in the same situation as you are.
