Starbucks deletes their Facebook comments if you mention “the second line” iced drink rule(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by gallifreyss
Apparently they don’t want customers to know that iced drinks are filled only to the second line and deleted my comments. Don’t work for the company anymore, but that’s hardly a secret and dirty for them to delete my comment. By deleting it, they’re admitting they know it’s a shady thing to do especially if you’re ordering a Tall and ice takes up 1/3rd of your drink.
They weren’t pleased when I said Starbucks accounts are sold on the dark web.
Originally I was recounting my trip to a store today with a very unprofessional shift manager, but can see now Starbucks take pride in cutting corners. I saw that before, but I see that even more now.
Update: before anyone else mentions 3rd line again, from 2007-2009/2010 the layout was different where there were only two lines.

Idk what store you worked at but we fill drinks to the third line around these parts.
gallifreyss [OP]1 points4y ago
Damn this should be streamlined then because it definitely is not.
wathew127 points4y ago
My store fills all the way lol idk what you’re talking about tbh
StormTheParade1 points4y ago
What? All the recipe cards for iced drinks say to fill to the third/topmost line.
LowkeyLolo11 points4y ago
Ice drink standard is ice after 3rd line. For fappuccinos, it's using the appropriate ice scoop for the size. Ex. Vent frappuccino, use venti scoop.
They probably deleted it because it sounds like misinformation.
Rings-of-Saturn2 points4y ago
Don forget the right amount of frap roast if applicable and whole milk to the bottom line, then poured into blender then you add flavors and base then ice with correct scoop size. :)

How is putting ice in an iced drink greedy? It’s called iced for a reason. Don’t want lots of ice ask for light ice or no ice there’s no rule against it.
Also I’ve never heard of this 2nd line rule when I measure out my drinks I’ve checked before and there more liquid then just going to the second line
michaelbleu7 points4y ago
I don’t know what ghetto starbucks you work at, but at both the corporate and target starbucks I’ve worked at it’s always been 3rd line. Pretty sure all the recipe cards even say “pour to the third line.” If your manager is being cheap or its a regional difference just call corporate
gallifreyss [OP]0 points4y ago
Literally was the second line from 2007-2010, I’ve already stated Starbucks changed rules.
psyche30906 points4y ago
Even at a Tarbucks, I’ve never heard of anything less than top line for iced drinks. We’ve had team members come from other licensed stores that worked there for years, (grocery stores, B&N) and they never did anything less either.
RavenFlawedPrefect5 points4y ago
Frappuccinos get made to the 1st line and iced (not blended) get made to the 3 line this second line nonsense sounds like more conspiracy theories that baristas purposely spell names wrong 😂😂😂😂😂
rilkatboo3 points4y ago
I don’t get it either? That’s why it’s an iced drink. Any reasonable person knows the ice takes up room in the cup.
StormTheParade2 points4y ago
I think you may have been trained incorrectly.
Iced drinks are roughly 1/3 to half ice, but nothing is stopping someone from ordering light ice except maybe the occasional barista who still thinks light ice means you short them on beverage or that you're trying to scam the system. The whole thing behind Starbucks as a brand is the ability to customise your coffee beverages. Light ice or no ice is 100% a valid modifier and should always be ordered if you think you're being over-iced.
As for a mention for frappuccinos somewhere here in the comments, I do also want to mention that the appropriate build for a frappuccino is, in the cup, frap roast first then milk to the *first* or bottommost line. Then that is poured into the blender and 2/3/4 pumps of base is added, alongside 1/2/2 pumps of syrups unless otherwise ordered. No drink gets milk to the second line except the cold foam cappuccino IIRC, but that's because it gets like an inch of foam at the top.
They're probably deleting your comments because you're wrong and they're trying to avoid you either spreading misinformation or they're looking to avoid you antagonising someone in the comments.

Actually, the subreddit is for everyone. If you are looking for a barista-only chat, there should be one in the Discord you're welcome to try to join.
If you haven't got anything nice to say to anyone, don't say it at all. The hostility is super unnecessary.

Then I think you should change the page bio cause it’s pretty confusing. Second, I think my comment was nice enough regardless the fact that this post is untrue. Peace.

Why do people want to buy Starbucks accounts online I’m confused
gallifreyss [OP]1 points4y ago
So they can login to accounts loaded with money and use them.

And for the record, my complaint is not about iced drinks. It’s how frapp training is so inconsistent and they still don’t bother to improve it.
Eleventh_Barista5 points4y ago
How does your post relate to frapp training? I’m so confused
gallifreyss [OP]1 points4y ago
Because i originally wrote to them about how frapps are always a hit or miss because it depends how much base there is vs ice which always gets really hard to drink halfway through. I asked for double blended, but yeah there’s always room for error. Couldn’t drink half my drink so i asked for a remake. Manager straight up refused initially. And was just really rude about it. She then asked me if I was recording her on my phone, which I wasn’t, I just tapped it to see the time. This was my complaint. My friend(also an employee) saw my post, shared her experience in incorrectly made frapps and our conversation rooted off to the iced drinks second line rule.
kaytlynnpolonis3 points4y ago
Are they putting enough base in the Frappuccino?? It makes it chunky if there’s not enough base. Maybe that’s the issue? Plus they can’t refuse to remake a drink. Doesn’t matter if you work there or not. That’s against policy itself. 🤷🏼♀️
