Partner Drink Discounts (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Cvais
So I know when we’re not working we get 30% off but I’ve seen sometimes I’ve been given the discount and other times partners just type in my numbers and give me the drink for free... any logic behind which occurs or is it just luck of the draw on what the barista at the time is feeling? Both have happened to me now, and not at my store. I’m a green bean, so not sure what the protocol is. Just curious!

Company policy is that you only get free drinks when you’re working, and the discount when you aren’t. If there are times you get it for free, it’s either the barista ringing you up is new and hit the wrong button OR they’re just fudging the system so you get your drink for free.

That’s what I remembered from training as policy. But today I went to scan my card after giving my number and he was like oh you’re good. 🤷🏼‍♀️ another time I ordered 2 drinks and it wasn’t until after I paid and saw my remaining balance that I realized one of the drinks had been taken off - the total went from like $10 to $4, and that’s def more than 30%.

SS here. Don't let partners give you drinks for free when you're not working. Both of you can be punished. I've seen several partners from my store be fired because of pressuring the one on the POS to give it out. HUGE no-no

Good to know, thank you! The first time I didn’t realize it until after I drove away (I ordered two drinks, and once I looked back at my card balance realized the amount of $ I had less meant one of the drinks was removed) and the second time after I gave my partner # and went to scan, the partner on POS was like “oh, no - don’t worry about it, you’re good” and I said “oh. Don’t I need to scan?” And he said “no, I got it”. Next time I’ll be sure to say I’m happy to pay.
