Did you actually give it to him in a venti? My store or district would NOT let us do that. Even for extra ice or room or anything. I got bitched at for taking one home just for me for the next couple days :(

We don’t have nitro at my store yet but we’ve been doing the training, and it was explained to us that we aren’t supposed to give out ventis not because of the caffeine content but because people can get The Bends from the nitrogen.

My store doesn't have nitro but whenever I order from a store that does I get a grande in a venti cup. I want a grande amount of CB with extra of whatever condiment I order (cold foam, coconut milk, etc) and I always pay for the extra. Just my two cents but this is probably what this guy was aiming for!

Read my comment! Lol goof ball my district won’t even let us do that. Even for extra milk or ice or just for the room! It all has to fit in a grande. They are strict on this.

Your district is weird. To put it lightly. If you're gonna be assholes about it, just sell a grande with a venti cup with extra sweet cream and shots (or ice, or whatever the customer wants) on the side. Just flat refusing is a dick move and completely unnecessary unless a customer is actively trying to cheat the system.. which isn't what's happening here.

My old district does the same thing tho. I think it’s pretty common not to allow a nitro in a venti cup, even if it’s for extra condiments. It’s not necessarily a dick move, it’s the fact that saying yes to some people while saying no to others leaves confused baristas and customers alike. It’s a “dumb” thing until something horrible happens to someone’s health from all the caffeine in nitro, not to mention if someone adds shots (which we are also taught not to allow). I agree that adding more milk to a grande nitro so it goes into a venti cup has nothing wrong with it, but I also understand why the districts who take these precautions do.

Crazy. 325mg caffeine in a nitro + 260 in 4 shots. 585mg caffeine/5 cups of coffee.

This really isn’t as much caffeine as people seem to think... There’s 265mg in a grande nitro with sweet cream, 75mg per shot of espresso, so that’s 565mg. A venti blonde roast has 410mg on its own before adding any shots! So basically David is fine.

Waiting for Nitro here. We are supposed to get it with our remodel in August (assuming they don't push it back AGAIN). TIL you can only get NCB in a T/G because too much nitrogen can give you the bends.

On a similar note to David's drink, earlier today I had a customer (let's call her D) mobile order a Venti Caramel Ribbon Crunch. Plus 6 shots of espresso (the shots plus frap roast ended up *just* *under* the bottom line). Plus 2 affogatto shots!

Wait, you can add shots to nitro? I thought you couldn’t do that. Also, I’ve been telling people I can’t put ice in the nitro. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I’m kinda new to the company.

I order the NCB in a venti cup with extra ice with mixed results. my current store doesn’t have it but I know some baristas at stores with it who will do it. on the other side of the same fence though, I’ve gone places where they’re unsure about if they can do it or what the policy is.

the way I see it, you might as well do it. unless you really do have a strict policy in your district or some other anomaly of enforcement going on, it’s better to assume positive intent.

I like my cold drinks cold, so I always order my drink in a larger sized cup with extra ice. it’s not to finesse more coffee or do anything weird. even the nitro is better on ice imo.

i have a regular that mobiles a grande ncb in a venti cup with ice everyday. if the app lets her ring it in, then who am i to tell her no? maybe try mobile ordering if you are unsure whether a store will do it.

My store wont allow NCB in a venti cup either. Grande is the largest size we can offer.
