How long to steep teas for? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I’m talking about the ones we keep on tap (black, green, passion, white). This has been widely debated at my store for a while, and no one seems to know if all are steeped for five minutes, or all except white are steeped for five minutes with white tea being steeped at four minutes. Couldn’t find anything on the hub. Resources help. Thanks.

Everything is 5 minutes. That's a pretty well known standard. The white tea was originally set a 3 minutes when it first came out but it was never followed and has since been officially updated to the full 5 minutes for ease of barista. 4 minutes was never the answer. Your store sounds wild.

This was a big debate when I was going through training. I read through the slide show and it said everything is 5 mins but white tea is only 3. When my trainer took me out to the floor and started asking questions, she had to go look it up because she was always trained everything was 5 mins.

Ah, black, green, and passion are five minutes.
White, however, is three minutes (because it’s a mild flavor). I know this because I was so confused when white tea came out and was introduced...no one knew why it was a less steeping time lol. There should be a white tea recipe card that says so. But my store does everything at 5 minutes anyway 🤷♀️
