I’m a SSV in Indiana (USA) and I have a partner who can’t drive on doctor’s orders for a while. Well the other day she asked if I would leave work during my shift to come get her. And I told her to try and find someone who’s not working first and she looked at me like I was crazy. Like today we were short a person during happy hour because a partner had to leave to go get her (another shift gave her permission the day before). And my manager said “we need to be courteous that she’s having medical problems” which I get. But I feel like she needs to at least try to find another way to get to work before having someone leave the floor to go get her. Like is they wrong of me?

Ugh... Nope. Public transportation. Uber. Family. Should all be on their list before bothering co-workers on shift. If you lived same block as them and had same shift yeah, you would be rude not go pick em up. But they're just being inconsiderate

To be fair, we are in a small town with no Uber/public transport. But your point stands and I agree.

But family or even walking? I don’t know the extent of her medical condition, but I feel like there should at least be taxi or a reliable family member

So should people without a car (uche students uche) automatically assume their ssv is coming to get them? Cray-cray.

No, don’t feel bad. We all have to do what we have to in order to get there, regardless of the circumstances. This is quite a unique set-up lol, and I see they’re trying to be good people, and I admire that, but other people have to make their own situations flow to fulfill what’s expected of us.
