What are the best shoes for the job? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by MisterMollusc
I worked at a gas station and have a pair of Asics with open mesh, which isn't allowed under the Lookbook AFAIK. I begin my job at Sbux in some weeks, and I think I need new shoes.

$1

If these are actually OK, let me know. Regardless, what are the best Dress Code-legal shoes for the walking and standing that is undergone in this job? Perhaps this can become a discussion for all new baristas to review.

I swear by Doc Martens. They are slip resistant. I've been wearing the same pair for 4 years. Prior to wearing Docs I'd go through 2-3 pairs of tennis shoes a year. (I'm a bartender)

I had been wearing my ‘nurse’ shoes and my feet and back were killing me. On w whim, I looked at the ‘work shoe’ Dept at Walmart and found some basic leather slip ons for $24. Threw some $7 insoles in and I swear by them!

Non-slip Doc Martins, or Non-slip Leather Vans-looking shoes from Walmart.

The no-slip makes a BIG difference even though it's optional in most stores. Trust me, it's worth it.

I have $1 and I love them. Wish I would've known about them for all my years in retail. Air Max, new balance, ultraboosts, nothing made my feet NOT hurt but these.

They have bunches of styles. Even one that looks like Chuck's.

I love my new balance slip proof with inserts.

But you’re correct that your current shoes won’t work cause of the mesh
