Grande rant(??) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by vanvynharden
Posted this on the other sbux sub but I'm posting here as well:

So I just transferred from a licensed store to a corporate one because of higher pay+actual benefits and tips and all that. While my new coworkers are super cool, I feel like they don't really like me that much. Every task that I'm assigned, I feel like I'm doing wrong because I was trained to do it otherwise/was never trained to do it in the beginning.

For example I used to be primarily a mid-shift and now I open most days, and I find myself having to ask a lot of questions and I think that it annoys my coworkers because I /am/ fully trained, but having a new work dynamic has really thrown me off. Also morning shifts are definitely different than mid/evenings, like it seems a lot more stressful and I'm sensing the stress in all my coworkers. I also think I've gotten slower at doing everything because of the same reason, and I feel that my coworkers think less of me, because they just end up pushing me to the side and doing it themselves, or just putting me somewhere else. I've only been working at sbux for about a year, and I definitely feel like I had everything down until I got here and now I feel like I'm doing everything wrong and making everyone hate me.

And I knowwww that I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to work and pay my rent. But it's extremely discouraging to feel like you're letting your team down. I'm almost considering transferring back to my old store just because of that. Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Long time partner here! I transferred from one corporate store to another and the people at my new location treated me like I didn't know how to do anything. Ignore their b.s. attitude. Ask questions if you have them and if they get snarky back, kill it with kindness. Every store does things a little differently. A good team would understand you don't know the rhythm of the store and help you.
Like the other comment says, morning is stressful for peak and ONLY peak. After that is just coasting until mids. Don't let them bully you into ever thinking otherwise.
You'll find your place among your new team. Just wait it out for a little. It is better in the long run to work for a corporate store. Honestly I wanted to quit the company after transferring because my new store felt so mean and cold towards me. But I stood up for myself and called them out on their stuff. I know I am really good at my job and confident in my abilities. Months and months of taking crap from them, but as soon as I stood up for myself all of it stopped.
They tried doing this to the newest transfer we had and I shut it down real fast. Some people never outgrow the high school clique phase. Just know you are better for not succumbing to it.

Well for one: no shit it’s going to be different. Our stores are way different than those at a target or something. You just have to learn things and also don’t be afraid to ask questions.

2: morning shifts are stressful for peak and peak only don’t ever let hem tell you it’s stressful all morning. I have worked all three shifts for multiple months at a time, morning is the easiest. So don’t let their hour or two of stressful ness get to you. Tell them straight up that you don’t understand some of the things at the new store because you came from a way different environment.

3. Don’t transfer back because you can’t handle it. It will obviously take some time to get used to it. Working at the corporate location is going to be way better for you in the long run. Tough it up and then they will eventual stop their childish acts. You could also just simply go to mids again talk to the manager on duty and tell her mornings aren’t working out tell her you want mids as that’s what you are used to. Mids are also the easiest shift possible.

Trainer here 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’ve been guilty of kinda just doing the work for a new partner if it’s really busy, I can see how that can come off as bad :( it’s never anything negative towards them though, just when how busy the store is.
