Hi friends,

Kind of sad I’m making this post, but I’ve been asked to resign because I’ve accepted a scholarship to study abroad for 6 weeks this summer. I applied for a leave of absence, but my SM & DM didn’t approve it so they’ve asked me to submit a letter of resignation. But they offered me rehire when I got back. Only sketchy thing is ever since I was hired on (7 months ago) I was always told my DM does not do rehire under any circumstances. So now I’m thinking I should ask for it in writing to ensure I can reapply for my job or should I just apply to a different district?

You should definitely ask for it in writing if you want to go back to the same store. Your DM may cover all the stores in your city.
Ask for it for "peace of mind" so you can get the best experience out of your trip. They should be happy you want to come back instead of going through a new trainee.

There are two other districts in my city. And I’ve also heard one is better. My SM said that if I finish my last two weeks that she would tell another store that I apply to that I left in good standing. So I’m just hoping she keeps her word. But the whole situation seems shady so I think I am going to ask for her statement in writing

You will be eligible for rehire when you return. You putting your notice in and having good conversations shows that you are absolutely leaving in good standing. I’m sure you’ll have no problem being rehired. But that doesn’t mean that your current SM will hire you again. That’s up to them if they want to do that. You’ll still need to reapply & go thru the hire process again. But there won’t be anything put in writing for you.

Yeah I understand that, but thing is that my DM does not allow rehires in her district so it’s either a false promise or they’re making an exception for me. But I don’t see why make an exception for me when it normally does not happen. I’ll either talk to a representative or ask for her statement in writing
