My coworkers reached a new level of carelessness and left me to deal with it (self.starbucksbaristas)

The other day I was on register with about an hour left of my shift. It was 80 degrees out and very humid, so of course, people came in mostly to buy the frappes, iced coffee and iced tea. My supervisor and my coworker were both on bar (mind you, it’s about 5 PM so the store isn’t even close to rush), and my coworkers decide they’re tired of making frappes, and tell me to tell customers they can’t purchase them.

I was only slightly irritated but I decided that it was the last 30-45 minutes of my shift so I wasn’t going to find it.

Then we ran out of white and green iced tea. And yknow, being that they were both on bar and I didn’t have a customer at that moment, I went to go remake the tea. Funny enough, my coworker asked me why I did it. I responded, “because that’s what I’m supposed to do?” Then they proceeded to tell me to not make anymore. About ten minutes later, the same happened with the iced coffee.

So, at that point my coworkers had just decided they had enough of the job they signed up for and were going to deliberately just not do anything.

A few minutes later, I see my supervisor come back into the store with a thing of dominos pizza.

My other coworker disappeared and then as I looked away from the customer I was ringing up, I saw both of them sitting there, neither of them clocked out eating dominos. Directly in my vision. They literally left me to go eat dominos and sat there watching my line extend to the door.

Mama ain’t raise no snitch, but god damn. You type snitched on yaself. :(
I may look at both of them my next shift and tell them to never pull that kind of bullshit again because I don’t want to immediately to go our manager. But a huge part of me just wants to let somebody else deal with it because I’ve never seen that level of irresponsibility before in a work place.

UPDATE: I totally snitched lmfao

I’m a shift at one of the busiest stores In my town. And this type of behavior is NOT OKAY!!! A shift is supposed to be a leader and role model and this clearly shows they aren’t up for it.

I hate frapps but I will never tell a customer they can’t have one. It’s what they want. Yes they are annoying to make but It’s about the customer experience not us.

You should very much tell your store manger or the district manager about this. You may wanna be nice but it’s better to say something now then later. Or else they will keep doing it. It’s not okay at all.

I wound up telling my store manager and she was furious. Thank you. I’ve realized that they didn’t really deserved to be saved in this situation because if they were that careless and disrespectful, they clearly don’t care for their jobs enough. Maybe they assumed I wouldn’t do it but I don’t want anyone to take advantage of me in this way. Enough is enough. Thank you.

They didn't snitch on themselves lol but I agree this is unacceptable behavior

This is 100% not okay, and something needs to be said to them about it regardless of who does it. I am so sorry that happened to you, definitely not okay. Do not feel bad about telling on them

Snitching is fully acceptable in this case- their behavior was absolutely deplorable.

As a shift this is triggering. There is nothing I hate more than a lazy ass shift and one that doesn’t respect the title they hold! That’s wild. I would tell your manager because that behavior is so very very bad. What a poor example of leadership.! This goes beyond being a snitch. That is bad for the business and could mess up you labor and burn you out on top of that. I’m so sorry that you had that experience.

We joke a LOT about doing this. We joke with a few regular customers about doing this. ACTUALLY DOING THIS!?!?!? Let’s just say I’d say a lot of swear words.

I understand the snitching part wholeheartedly but this was just straight up disrespectful. If they were tired of making said drinks, why didn’t the shift change the play to allow someone who was more than willing to do their job, do their job? You’re honestly nicer than me because I would’ve had my customer wait about 10-15 seconds while I went and fired they asses up. Sorry you had to deal with that! I’m lowkey mama bear for my store so ANYBODY out of line can get it. Period. 😂
