Something is wrong with my drink(self.starbucksbaristas)

BuT iT’s FiNe I’Ll JuSt TaKe It AnYwAy. Idk why but I really bothers me when people complain about their drinks and then when we offer to remake it, they refuse and say it’s fine. Ok, then why complain in the first place? It seems in these instances it’s usually because they unknowingly order something incorrectly, not because something was legitimately made wrong at the bar.

I hate it when they say the drink isn’t right and keep giving reasons they don’t like it. Like....,if it doesn’t taste right, then it doesn’t taste right! I am happy to remake a drink, just calm down and let me do it.
silversungoddess21 points4y ago
I actually like them to tell me what’s wrong with it cause then I can ask the person who made it (after the customer is gone) to see if they did something wrong based on the feedback so I can coach it and so I can make sure the same mistake isn’t made on the second drink
Cvais [OP]14 points4y ago
I get that and that makes sense, but sometimes (I feel like more often than not, at least with my experience) they don’t know what’s wrong with it, unless it’s something blatantly obvious - like wrong flavor syrup or something.
Cvais [OP]7 points4y ago
YES! Or listing all the reasons, but then don’t want you to remake it. Like ookayyyyy.
Lurn2spel19 points4y ago
Some people genuinely just want to have anything to complain about. It’s really sad but true.

I didn’t know about your remake policy until I had a drink made at one Starbucks and I didn’t start drinking it until I got home. They forgot the coffee 😁 I went to my regular Starbucks a few days later and we were all chatting and I mentioned it because it was funny and I got a free drink. You guys rock!
Cvais [OP]12 points4y ago
If someone says something, we always offer to remake it on the spot! ☺️
norewichhea11 points4y ago
this guy started complaining to be about his venti cappuccino being all foam i said ok no problem i can remake it right now did you want a latte instead? and he said forget it its fine... Less than 5 mins later hes telling a different barista the same thing??
Cvais [OP]8 points4y ago
Wait but a cappuccino is literally the foam??? Hahaha wow.
graceam__2 points4y ago
@ the people who order a latte with extra foam (cappuccino lol) or a cappuccino with no foam......... oooookkk LOL
beingalivesux6 points4y ago
YES THIS
I don’t get the point of this? is it just to bring it to my attention because I literally don’t care?
I’m happy to remake drinks and I always tell people don’t hesitate to ask because that’s how you find out what you like/guarantee you’re paying for something you want but fuuuck when people just wanna have a tantrum I’m like ??? this seems like a you thing that doesn’t concern me

Literally happened to me the other day, I was on DTO and had just heard a car pull up to order when a lady across the handoff plane yells to get my attention so I had to get someone else to take the DT order, and I ask her what she needs and she tells me she wanted a black tea latte and instead had a royal English breakfast tea latte. We had a new person on POS so they obviously just made a mistake when ringing through her order. I asked her if I could take her drink and have it remade properly for her and she goes, ‘you know what, it’s fine I don’t have time for this.’ And walks out.
Why bother to get my attention if you’re going to storm away anyway?
boxiestcrayon157 points4y ago
Wait but our black tea is English breakfast tea.
itspicasso1 points4y ago
Nah she wanted like the black tea powder latte
StillKnockers3 points4y ago
A what?
itspicasso1 points4y ago
.... you don’t have that? Like the tea lattes with either black, matcha or rooibos powder?

One time I had someone say we made it wrong, was supposed to be soy but it wasn’t on the ticket. I was like oh no I’m so sorry I’m gonna remake that for you right away (immediately started pulling shots; it was a grande iced caramel macchiato) and she goes “no it’s okay” to which I respond “are you sure?! I can have the remake does in less than a minute” and she says “no, really it’s okay” and then walks away
BUT NOT TO THE DOOR, OH NO.
INSTEAD, she walks back over to the register and asked for the manager. Saying that her drink was made wrong and she can’t have dairy, and she can’t believe the problem wasn’t fixed.
HOWEVER. SMART GAL ME, still made the remake cause I had already pulled the shots and saw her walking back to the register. My manager at the time came over to ask how dare I not offer a remake to her. To which I held up the remade drink and said “oh I definitely did. She said she didn’t want it but I did it anyway to be safe” and proceeded to hand the lady the drink. “Told you it’d be less than a minute” She got so red in the face and left without saying another word.

Aka “I don’t want my drink remade, I want it for free” 🙄
agentdouble1s1 points4y ago
Same goes when they think a grande is a venti and I offer to make the right size for them. Like, I don't mind. I tell them that. But the time it takes for them to decide takes longer than me remaking it.
ladyelenawf-2 points4y ago
Because every damn time I think it's made wrong I get, "no that's how it's made. I can make it again if you want."
No, thank you. I now know you won't do it right.
For me I keep randomly getting people who like to make my drinks white. I ordered my husband a double chocolaty chip frap. It was white. I was like, isn't this usually brown? Got the above reply. He was the only guy working in B&N, but I was the only one in the cafe area. I started to say yes, but realized he still wouldn't do it right and it's not like I know enough about my drink to understand what went wrong. My husband said it was not chocolaty enough. So he ended up not drinking it.
Edit: see, y'all downvoting an actual reply is why I never try to fight it. OP helped me figure out a way to fix it in the future.
Cvais [OP]3 points4y ago
If it’s something like that and it’s visibly wrong, you should absolutely have them remake it. B&N are licensed stores, not corporate, so I also can’t speak to how well they’re trained on bar.
ladyelenawf1 points4y ago
I don't know how well they are trained either. I appreciate your answer.
I feel bad because I don't know how to have it fixed, just that it should be. Then I feel frustrated because every time they act like I'm being odd about it. It's just the way they say that it's right, but they'll do it any way. I don't know how to explain it.
I mean if it's white? I ask if it's supposed to be brown and they say it's right. What am I to do? I'm being serious. I promised myself last time I wouldn't accept it wrong, but I didn't see any other option.
DazedinEuphoria3 points4y ago
Hi!
Can’t speak for every licensed store but at mine we absolutely are trained like a corporate Starbucks. Recipes, machines, products, all the same. The double chocolate chip Frappuccino definitely is a brownish color, had to explain this to one of our new baristas because she thought the mocha sauce that’s added in had coffee in it since a mocha does. Not that that’s necessarily the case everywhere. But if you know there’s something wrong with your drink 9/10 times a barista is happy to correct it for you!!
ladyelenawf1 points4y ago
The guy said he put mocha powder in it. 🤷♀️
Cvais [OP]2 points4y ago
If you’re ever unsure (and have time) feel free to do a quick google search and it will bring it up! The double choc chip calls for mocha sauce, which it sounds like he didn’t include (and your husband noticed was missing - that’s the chocolate piece of it, other than the chips). You shouldn’t have to do that... the guy making your drink should’ve realized he left it out when you mentioned it to him, so I’m sorry that was your experience!
ladyelenawf1 points4y ago
Is not your fault, I was honestly just replying to your post as to why we say something and then drop it.
Every time I Google the drink, I get "how to make it at home" articles.
I'm just glad I'm not going nuts. I do tend to have time. So I'll Google it until I figure it out if it happens again. I know it will, it's just my luck. 🤷♀️
Y'all are always so nice to me on here. I appreciate it.
