To be honest, I don’t care about Starbucks losing money (their profit margins on most things are insane), but I am tired of MTMR making customers into entitled brats. Knowing that throwing a fit over nothing will get them a $5 drink for free makes them turn into monsters and they inevitably take it out on the baristas. It’s a lose-lose situation. We try to follow policy, they throw a fit. We’re lenient, their entitlement grows. It also doesn’t help that the company will almost always put customer experience above employee wellbeing.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like my job and most of my experiences are positive. Most customers are great. But the Starbucks environment has a tendency to cultivate terrible customer behavior

I 100% agree with you. Whenever the customer in my story wants something now, she never takes no for an answer. All of the higher up people kiss her ass and I’m tired of it.

Honestly at that point I will tell her that all that information she can find online at Starbucks.com or through the application. We don’t carry that information in stores and apologize about it. If she says that they’ve done it for her before I’ll just say that I’m not sure who has helped her before but i don’t have that information. Regarding getting a free drink I will literally tell her it’s not possible and if my shift tries to tell me to give it to her I will refuse and let him/her deal with her. If they make the decision of giving a free drinks then they can make it themselves and hand it out themselves. As well as I’ll go to extreme and take all drinks for the cars behind her and deliver to them in their cars and charge them if she is stopped at windows and just tell them they have all right to honk at her. Don’t got time for any of that entitlement.
