Must be nice (self.starbucksbaristas)

You know what I think is funny? None of the admin were at our store yesterday. Like let’s require our baristas to work a holiday but nah I’m not gonna come in cause I don’t have to. 🙄

If I’m not mistaken, they don’t get time and a half. So it really makes no sense. Don’t quote me though

Management does not get Time and a half. If we work we get paid normal pay but get a floating holiday to use within 2 months. If we don’t work we get paid for the day because we are salaried and no float holiday

You didn't even have a shift?
krispykreme2345 [OP] 14 points 4y ago
Oh my bad yeah we had shifts, but usually our manager and or assistant manager are also in but it just must be nice to not come in if you don’t wanna you know?

Oh I totally know what you mean and it is really frustrating. How can they ask other people to work when they aren't willing to.
krispykreme2345 [OP] 5 points 4y ago
Yeah exactly, I mean I don’t mind the holiday pay lol. It’s just gets irritating. Especially because like our Asistant manager thinks shifts shouldn’t do any of the ‘grunt work’ so on top of that and then then not showing up is just 🙄 thankfully our SSV are better than that but still😂

If they work a federal holiday they get an extra day off. Personally I’d rather have the time and a half. But that’s just me.

At least in Canada, stat holidays would be a free day off for store managers. So instead of working 40 hours that week, they'd only need to work 32.

While they could take a different day off so they only work 4 days, I have a feeling there's more labour laws that would complicate things.

You're allowed to "bank" them to save when you need a day off.
krispykreme2345 [OP] 2 points 4y ago
Ahhh ok that makes more sense, now I feel bad for complaining 😅😂

It’s all about communication. I hope you had a good day

Yeah it must be nice to not work those holidays. But that means the SM must take that other day off which actually puts the store at a disadvantage because that’s 8 hrs of labor lost. Plus, are SMs paid hourly at all? Because if they are just salary then it doesn’t make sense for them to work that holiday and not actually get the time and a half and still have less time to do the work that you have to do.
