Switch to a corporate store. I know someone who did that and they felt so much better
ajades1013 32 points 4y ago
Really? I know I’d get paid less but I’d expect it to be more of the same.
katiejaguar 45 points 4y ago
But the benefits make it worth it. And your team will be more supportive. With your experience, it should be less difficult to transfer to another store. At least get the bux to pay for your college before you quit!!
MiS_Schuey 28 points 4y ago
Definitely switch. You wouldn’t necessarily make less money either, I switched from a target kiosk to a corporate store and I now have a higher base wage plus I can accept tips now. Stress level also went way down and I’m not sore after every shift because we actually have coverage
Kyenne_Pepper123 4 points 4y ago
You would probably get paid more since the company is paying you. And the benefits are amazing. Also twice a year you get stocks from the company
Dawizba 3 points 4y ago
Do we get it twice? I thought we only got like 6 shares once a year
Kyenne_Pepper123 2 points 4y ago
What my manager told me was that we get a total of 10. She didn’t mention when but she said we get 5 first then some months later we get the rest
sweetinasense 2 points 4y ago
No way a kiosk pays more than a corporate store. Def not where I’m from anyway. We start baristas at $12/hr and that beats most hourly jobs in the area for non-management.
Still, if it’s customers making you crazy, may be time to move on bc real life: customers are both the best and the worst part of this job.
ajades1013 2 points 4y ago
Hyvee pays 13.50. The corporates around me pay 12.50
burtmaclin2015 1 points 4y ago
They may $1 less, but won't you get more hours at a corporate store?

PS. Hope that things work out. You have a good heart, and we need more of that in this world.
hystronic 22 points 4y ago
I recently switched from being in a grocery store to corporate, and I feel that it was it worth it. The pay is lower (for me at least), but the store runs wayyyy smoother, feels more put together and I generally feel a lot better since switching. If you want to still be a barista but you’re struggling with the current environment, maybe consider switching?
crafty_0ne 14 points 4y ago
Depends on the individual store off course, but this has been my experience as well every time we bring over a licensed store worker. They are generally pretty surprised by the difference, and often times end up as our best workers since many of them are used to running there kiosk alone and doing everything themselves, when you put them in a store with other partners to actually support them they just take off and get stuff done.

Even if you quit I just want you to know that I'm fucking proud of you. I've been a manager in retail for 5 years and right now I have a lot going on in life so I wanted an easy stress free job. Even with my experience I was blown away buy how much shit we have to deal with. That being said I'm from a high volume dt store.

Still even if your time with this compamy is up just know that having all this on your resume is gonna help you for years to come. Like honestly market the fuck out of yourself. Take what you've picked up from there and use it as a foot in the door for your next step.

You have sales exp. You know all the food safety stuff. You give out task for employees and keep them on task. You keep customers happy and offer solutions to problems. You ensure new information is cascading downward with your staff. You oversee training and make new hires feel welcomed in the company. This is just a short overview of what you could take anywhere!

I really get that the stress sucks and again I'm damn proud of you doing this at your age. I'd have failed at 18. I'd have thrown a pissy fit and got mad or quit but you're better than that. Just know your worth. If you need anything else hit me up or pm me.

Wish you all the best op.

You sound really awesome ⭐ I bet you're an amazing leader.
cringelien 10 points 4y ago
people are saying go to a corporate store, I would just find a new job altogether if you aren’t attached to starbucks. even better, find a local small business coffee shop and work for them!
foolishcomputer 3 points 4y ago
Starbucks is a fun side job and As much as I love the skills I've learned, the whole cog itself is nothing but a mess and really just extreme slave labour. Still like what I do, still think everyone should try a corporate store first if they still want to try their chances but smaller businesses the better. Then again, it's always money over experience for some people (it's just survival instinct but terrible long term for your psyche).
cringelien 3 points 4y ago
yup just quit my corporate job that paid almost 3 bucks more to start working at a cute local place. i’m a lot happier and enjoying summer!
foolishcomputer 2 points 4y ago
💜💜 that's great! Enjoy yourself, pal!
cringelien 2 points 4y ago
thank you so much❤️
spacepoptartz 7 points 4y ago
Corporate store is the answer. I too worked a kiosk at first and it was an utter hell by comparison.
lavender-dreamss 3 points 4y ago
i work at a kiosk too, and i feel your pain. it makes me feel better knowing how cool my coworkers are, but if you’re unhappy i’d transfer to a corporate store.
pebbles4eva 3 points 4y ago
Yeah I agree with everyone else. You may feel better in a corporate store. And if you don’t, maybe go part time and grab another part time job and see what happens
Dwelling_Theory 2 points 4y ago
Corporate is no better. The only way to win here is to find a location that isnt full of entitled rich asshats who need the most perfect coffee drink at their disposal. I work at a location next to one of the biggest malls in America and we are fill of that kind of thing. I also just pumped out my resume and fine tuned my cover letter and am also on the bandwagon of getting the hell out of there. Good luck to you. Oh yeah and dont forget; dont let ANYONE break your mental state down like that. It really should not be worth that.
angelauraquartzz 2 points 4y ago
Dude honestly just be blessed that it’s not you who is acting so horrible, use that as a tool to show you how you shouldn’t act. You can’t help other people when they just want to have a shitty attitude. I swear people come into my store already in a bad mood and I used to let it affect me but now I don’t I truly wish them a good day because you never know what’s going on in their life yah know? I know it sucks but just think of it as a chance to be someone’s angel and make their day.
tidalpools 4 points 4y ago
She actually is acting horrible. I asked a question in a post about the difference between creme base and coffee base and she replied with this for no reason "Oh my god. It tastes basically the same. Stop being a snob and trying to find something wrong with your perfectly fine s’mores frap."
kylakat13 3 points 4y ago
We're basically conditioned to think the way she responded to you. I've gotten countless customers that bitched at me when we're out of one of the bases even though it really doesn't make a difference. So sure, she shouldn't have actually typed it out what she was thinking. But her coworker fucking died. Give her a break.
tidalpools 1 points 4y ago
ALL I DID was ask what the difference between the two was. How was I supposed to know her coworker died? How does that even make it okay for her to be rude to someone for no reason? Give ME a fucking break. Stop defending someone when they're being an asshole just because you work at the same store as them.
kylakat13 1 points 4y ago
"just because you work at the same store as them"
Oof. It's very obvious that you have never/should never be a barista. You don't need a break, you're local baristas do.
maaaaaaarissa 2 points 4y ago
QUIT!!! I’m ready to quit and I’m a shift at a corporate store. Yeah that benefits are good but it’s still basically the same customers/bullshit you have to deal with
kayelaine1 2 points 4y ago
Yeah you might want to consider transferring stores. I had to transfer from a location I loved just because t was so far away. And yeah now dealing with your same situation

Hahaha I like how you complain about "rude customers" when you were just rude af to me in my post for no fucking reason. Please quit. Starbucks would be better off without you. You're obviously incapable of doing a simple job. Go cry about it some more.
ajades1013 3 points 4y ago
Man, I dealt with some shit yesterday my coworker died in a car accident and everything else just didn’t matter. Sorry about the rude reply, I just wasn’t there mentally.
kylakat13 1 points 4y ago
Fucking shut up, honestly.
tidalpools 0 points 4y ago
You fucking shut up.
